A CALL TO THE WORLD

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. (Edmund Burke)

This is a call directed to everyone who wants to do something to start to change the world in which we live.
We have all heard that change has to start with oneself but the cooperation of many people is necessary for this change which we all yearn for to take place quickly. We must react soon, we must leave behind once and for all the lethargy in which we are submerged and start to lay the foundations of a fairer and healthier world for all. We can’t keep waiting for our governments to react and change their mentality; it could be too late.

This call aims to make it known to governments all over the world that our priorities are not the same as theirs and that our votes, most of the times, are about a choice between bad and worse. Abstention, which is more and more frequent, shows the lack of motivation and credibility of our representatives. Our needs have changed, how can governments continue looking for majorities when erradicating hunger of our fellow man is not one of their priorities? How can they speak of solidarity when our medical class still refuses to accept medicines and alternative methods which could save many lives because it would threaten their internal structure?

This call is for those who don’t want to continue contributing to this insanity in which we live and continue allowing:

-That 20% of the world’s population consumes 80% of the planet’s resources.
-That military spending is 12 times higher than economic aid to developing countries.
-That 1,000 million human beings don’t have access to drinking water and that 5,000 people die every day due to the consumption of contaminated drinking water.
-That 1,000 million people suffer from hunger.
-That more than 50% of commercial crops in the world is used for animal feed and the production of biofuels.
-That there are still people in prison only for expressing their political ideas.
-That human beings can condemn to death a fellow man in the name of justice.
-That ´gentleman thieves´, some with important political responsibilities, have impunity and freedom whilst others who can’t pay for their freedom waste away in prison for infinitely smaller crimes.
-That every year 13 million hectares of forest disappear.
-That indigenous people are powerless to prevent the appropriation of their lands in exchange for a wretched life.
-That different species are becoming extinct at a rate which is 1,000 times higher than the natural rate.
-That ¾ of fishing resources have been exhausted or are about to be.
-That before 2050 there could be 200 million refugees due to climate change.
-That our products still don’t have ´transparent’labels which would enable us to know and choose what we’re consuming.
-That banks are exclusively focused on maximizing their profits instead of offering a public service to society.
-That the third most lucrative business, after arms trafficking and drugs trafficking is trafficking of children.
-That, that, that...

In the above list there is only a record of a few “Thats” but we all know there are many more.

We must show our disapproval of this aberration, we still have things to strive for, we must unite and show our power. All those who are willing to cooperate in this change of universal consciousness must attend to this call and he media must reflect the new feeling of an ever greater number of human beings. The one thing we must do is go to the townhall square in the town or city in which we find ourselves, the same day and at the same time, and our pacifistic and silent presence will serve as an example to all our leaders that we don´t agree with their governments and that solidarity with the whole planet, and world peace should no longer be pipe dreams and should become reality. We must strive to do something about what we can still save.

WE ALL HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE, WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR? IF WE WANT WE CAN. WHETHER THE MARKS WE LEAVE ON THIS PLANET ARE THOSE OF HUMAN BEINGS DEPENDS ON US.

“HOPE A WAKING DREAM” (Aristotle)
